Good News.... Varicose Veins are now Treated Non-Surgically using
Endovenous Lasers...NO MORE VEIN STRIPPING

What are varicose veins?

Varicose veins are enlarged veins that can be flesh colored, dark purple or
blue.  They often look like cords and appear twisted and bulging. They are
swollen and raised above the surface of the skin.  Varicose veins are commonly
found on the backs of the calves or on the inside of the leg.

What causes Varicose Veins?

Veins, unlike arteries, are built with a series of one way valves to control the
flow of blood back to the heart and lungs. When one or more of these valves
ceases to function, blood is permitted to flow backwards, or reflux, thus
rendering the vein incompetent. Over time, blood stagnates and pools causing
the bulging symptom of varicose vein disease.

Heredity is the number one contributing factor causing both varicose and spider
veins. Women are more likely to suffer from vein disease, but men are common
sufferers. It is estimated that up to 80 Million Americans suffer from Varicose
Disease.

Common Symptoms Include:

  • Itchiness
  • Heaviness
  • Achiness
  • Easily Fatigued
  • Restless
  • Night Cramps
  • Swelling
  • Skin color changes
  • Ulcers
LEFT UNTREATED:

Left untreated, we now know that Venous Disease will only lead to greater problems down the road. In
addition to suffering the continued symptoms of pain, fatigue and swelling of the legs and ankles; more
advanced issues may include thrombophlebitis, blood clots, spontaneous bleeding, venous leg ulcers, and
potentially Deep Vein Thrombosis DVT.

The Endovenous Laser Ablation Treatement (EVLT)

A New Treatment Option for patients to consider, the Endovenous Laser Treatment is done in-office under
local anesthesia. It works by heating the inside of the vein with a tiny laser causing it to seal shut and
disappear.

The EVLT procedure is comfortable and quick, and comes with a higher success rate as compared to
outdated "Stripping" procedures. The use of ultrasound allows for a safe treatment and patients are walking
immediately after their procedure.
